Anchoring on the Mississippi River: First get the right type of anchor.
(Not the mushroom type) anchors are designed to dig into the riverbed at
an angel. You need to have enough line, at least 5 times the water
depth, tie off from the bow (front) of your boat. Throw out the anchor
and just drift with the current until it catches. Always be prepared to
cut the line in case of an emergency situation. If beaching, be sure to
put your anchor out to keep your boat from drifting while unattended. |
